Swapbar vs CodexBar
CodexBar watches the usage of dozens of AI coding tools. Swapbar does one thing: the Claude Code quota of every claude-swap account, and switching between them. Here is where each one fits.
Pick CodexBar if
- You also use Codex, Cursor, Gemini, Copilot or another provider and want them in one place.
- You want widgets, burndown charts or a command line tool.
- You need Linux.
- You don’t use claude-swap.

One provider or many
CodexBar is a dashboard for many AI coding tools. Each provider gets a card with its session and weekly windows, and you can add more from a long list. Swapbar only knows Claude Code, and it is built around claude-swap: every row is a claude-swap account, and every action ends in a claude-swap command.
Several Claude accounts
Both can show several Claude accounts and switch between them. CodexBar added an opt-in claude-swap adapter in 2026 that shows a card per account and switches when you click one. In Swapbar that is the whole app: the list marks the account Claude Code is using now, the alert suggests the next one, and the settings window edits claude-swap’s auto-switch options.
Where the numbers come from
CodexBar reads each provider’s usage API, a browser session cookie or the provider’s own CLI, depending on what you allow. Swapbar never calls Anthropic itself: it asks claude-swap, which already polls the usage endpoint at a pace that stays under each account’s rate limit. Cost comes from the transcripts Claude Code writes on your Mac, priced at API list prices.
Size
Both are native apps, not Electron. Swapbar is written in Rust with gpui, is a 3.8 MB download and runs in about 50 MB of memory.
Questions
- Is Swapbar a CodexBar alternative?
- For Claude Code users with several accounts, yes. If you track Codex, Cursor or other providers too, CodexBar covers more ground.
- Can CodexBar switch Claude Code accounts?
- Yes. With its claude-swap adapter turned on, clicking an inactive account card switches to it through claude-swap.
- Can I run Swapbar and CodexBar together?
- Yes. Swapbar only talks to claude-swap and reads local transcripts, so it doesn’t get in CodexBar’s way.
- Does Swapbar support Codex or Cursor?
- No. Swapbar is for Claude Code only.
